Remember when online shopping wasn’t a rage, and we would go out shopping for clothes. When we would traverse across clothing stores and not scroll through Myntra and Amazon. When we would make an itinerary of our weekend plans for shopping and not suddenly look for clothes online on a lazy afternoon.

Weekend family shopping spree Meta
Anya, a corporate worker who resides in Bengaluru says, going out for shopping clothes as kids was nothing short of an event, “Our families would plan the day ahead of the shopping, from the car ride to the mall, to hopping around different shops, to devouring burgers in the food court, it was like a ‘Jetpack Joyride’.”
She says that, now that she is just a click away from buying a ‘middi’, that piques her interest on the web, life has become convenient but all she is left with is, remnants of nostalgia.
Eklavya, a college student who is planning his mom and dad’s 25th anniversary had recently gone out to shop with his family. He describes his shopping experience as an ode to his childhood days.
He says, “I live in Bangalore now, far from my family and I spend days reminiscing about the times when buying clothes was not something as trivial as scrolling through an Instagram page. I had gone back to my hometown to plan things out for my parent’s 25th anniversary and going out with them, shopping for clothes was a stroll down the nostalgia lane.”
With online shopping seeping into our daily lifestyle, coupled with our busy schedules, the advent of web has further pushed us into small cubicles of isolation. Remember when shopping was not just a mere affair of scrolling through web, but an outing that would bring us closer to families, remember when we would be excited about going out for buying clothes and not select clothes with a resting face, gazing at a blue screen.
